All right guys, thanks to Martin's keen eye for bargains I now have a Ben Buckle 57"ws Fokker D8. This looks like a really good kit. All the wood is machine cut and the cabanes and landing gear wire is already formed!!! Now I have something to mount my Eflite Power 25 outrunner on. The kit box says a .19-.30 two stroke. Should work out well. Always wanted a larger electric to show the glow guys how far electric has come. Steve.

Boy, you guys are making me jealous. The only WW1 bird I have right now is a Pee Wee 020 powered CL Nieuport 11. But, I have a bunch of Aviation Modeler Internatiopal mags with lots of WW1 plans for 2.33/1 400 power. Some strange ones, too. Wish I could afford to retire and do some more building and flying.

where'd you get this from?

I got the Fokker from Martin. He found it on Ebay and got it for a good price but he already had one. So in his generosity he allowed me to buy it from him. Gotta love friends like that!!! 50+Years, I'm also waiting to retire so I have more airplane time but I'm only 40 so I have a ways to go!!! Plans have no expiration date. Just hang onto them and eventually you'll get your wish!! Steve.

I posted this somewhere else here, but it is one of the more eccentric WWI planes I've seen. Recent best of show winner. I saw it a Mars PA a few weeks ago, flying to. Flys well, but quite labored, at its size. I told the boy to stay in the pic for size ref. Its still a lot bigger than it looks, at something like 12 ft span. Electric, of course. A number of rc car/boat style packs.

What's going on?

finally found a big roll of Natural Coverite and have 1/2 the Jabiru 80" wing covered, waiting for 3 new gear boxes and then ready to fly again. all is well. dick stamm

Hopefully will get back to work on my small tripe this weekend. I need to do the leading edge sanding and then start "painting" on the Sig Stix It for the Polyspan. Had to build a old Squadron kite kit of the Wright Flyer for my wife to hang in her store. It has about a five foot wingspan. But now I'm free to work on "my" stuff again!!! Did you guys check out the Williams Brothers website yet? Steve.

Sorry, I know this is an electric power forum, but the only WW I plane I have in my queue right now is a peanut scale SE-5A for FAC competiton for this year or next.

Martin...Steve.. flying is going pretty good so far, but time is an issue.
looking after acres of lawn as well as work and trying to fly at every opportunity makes for not much building time. guess it will just have to wait for the weather to turn nasty late in the fall. I am however assembling a new model that is the strangest looking " warbird" I've seen in a long time.. pics when it's about done in a couple weeks :-)

Guys, I finally did it! :D I joined a local electric RC club and I'm darn glad I did it! :D :D I haven't belonged to a club since the early 80s. This will give me an incentive to fly and build more. Who knows, I might even find another building Buddy. Ron, I plan on starting on the Formosa right after I put the ACCEL Katana together. It's about 90% finished. Nice kit too. :) I'll post some pics as soon as I find my digital camera! :eek: I also need to finish my tripe. Never seems to be enough time....... Martin

Martin...I know that not enough time feeling only too well....
I haven't flown for over a week now...which is real bad because the flied is actually in my back yard, and Ican see the planes flying out there when I'm home for lunch, or out working on the Garden.....ratz...time for a smaller yard.

Oh no!!!! Martin's on the warpath!!! I'll bet he gets talked into going over to the "darkside." You know, where those 3D guys hangout. Next thing you know his favorite plane will be a Shockflyer and all us WWI guys won't be "cool" anymore. Ha! Ha! Will try to finish fuselage tomorrow and start figuring out the pull pull setup on the tripe. Will try to post pics if all goes well. Ron, get out and fly!! It'll do you good!!! Steve.

She's all framed up guys!!! I put two Blue Arrow 4 gram servos, and a Feagio brushless motor with a IPS gearbox in it. So far she looks like I got her framed up fairly straight. Had a little trouble with the fuse trying to twist on me. Looks good now. If the wife will find her camera and charge it I'll post some pics this weekend. Steve.

Just finished building a Winglet 2 by Ron fikes for a vacation take along plane. 29" S400 tailess. Now back to the Tripehound. One more aileron interconnect to secure. Then take it apart for staining, fixing shop rash and covering. Will send some pics soon.

PS had to take a little side trip to the cardiac care ward. Lost a week. Battery pack on the Dr1 (still unflown) was OK, I just forgot to connect the two halves )-: Going to program it into my Polk T3 tomorrow, hope to maiden by weekend.

Great to have ya back Walt!!! Hope you're okay!! Have you guys ever thought that you were on the verge of finishing only to find you had more to do than you thought? I thought that by the end of my long weekend I would have it covered. No way!!! I just now got all the wood painted with STINKY Sigs-Stix-It. Bending the LG took a little more time than I thought too!!! Oh well, I guess I'm closer to finishing than I was 2 days ago!! Steve.

I've got pictures of the tripe to post for you guys. The problem is it keeps telling me the file is too big!!! Any suggestions? If you guys can tell me what I need to do, I'll post them. Steve.

Two things can be done.

Firstly if your photo has a lot of excess waste area around the aeroplane then you can trim (somtimes called crop) it using your photo program. This them means that the model fills a larger proprtion of the space in the smaller photo.

Secondly if the model takes up most of the photograph you will need a photo program that will resize the file. The program that I use to resize photos is called Thumbs Plus. Thumbs Plus can be downloaded as a free trial version.
