Thought I would add this to the collection:

Veron SE5a FF plans converted to RC. I did actually fly her, but sadly the motor let go after the 6th flight.

- 15" WS
- AUW 38g (1.35oz)
- Spektrum AR6400 RX
- Parkzone UM T-28 power system: 8.5mm pager motor with gearbox

The video might not be the smoothest, but I was also fighting 5mph gusts on the maiden!

Naw, my pilots are kind of hollow headed. Not smart enough to stay out of my planes. LOL The pilot that was in the plane in the tree for over a year must have got tired of waiting on me and left. I never found him.

planes in waiting

Hi all,
Our postal strike is over and I ordered a motor/esc etc etc for the Eflie Nieuport XI reworked to an Italian theme.
I was searching around the net on Fokkers as all mine are Allied planes..I came across a local ad at a pawn shop for a discontinued Electrifly (GP) Fokker DR1 tri plane. (Model GPMA1380) This is NIB 60" wing span. Started looking about for threads on a conversion to electric but they are all fairly old threads. Plane can be had fairly cheap but I'm sure the guts would add up the cost. I should probably go for the DR VII and keep them all the same size but a nagging itch is shouting triplane.????????????

degreen60 07-03-2011 10:49 PM

The Breguet 14 is now a nice flying airplane. One of the crashes had knocked one of the wing pannels out of alinement. I used the brace wires to pull it back into place. Before I added all the down thrust I thought it was going to have to fly fast and land fast. Now it flys slower and floats in for the landing.

Thank you Marty! It was a GREAT 4th for us. Family went on a nice long bike ride on the bike trail, and just had a good no stress day.
Haven't flown any planes since last week, I feel a nice morning with WWI bipes floating around is in order.

After much searching I finally found parts to make bombs for the Breguet 14. I have to thank the wife for supplying the parts. The front and main body of the bomb is thin metal cap off ebrow pencel. The rear of the bomb is off free pens where she use to work. Fins are just paper glued on rear part and trimmed.

Hey there now,
Be sure to paint some day glo bright orange on the tips of those bombs. You don't want anyone thinking they might be real..:silly:

After looking at some WW1 pictures I do not think the bombs were painted black but maybe a gray. I am going to repaint gray. Now let me see if I have some black power to fill them.

wattman 07-11-2011 07:57 PM

Use 4F powder and a percussion cap in the nose and fly over pavement , whoa , I want to see this show , please get it on video , ha ha ha :D

DeGreen.. you scare me sometimes![popcorn]

Come on D! Maybe just a little explosion! :D;) Marty

degreen60 07-12-2011 02:04 AM

When I was a kid I had a kind of bomb I bought in a 5 & dime store that you put a cap in the nose then threw it up in the air and it set the cap off when it hit the ground. It would take a larger plane than my Breguet 14 to fly with one attached. My kids would get "Snaps". When throwed on the ground hard enough they would make a noise. Wonder if they would go off dropped from a plane.

Damn I remember those little bombs with caps. Right up there with Bat Masterson canes, toy Derringers and Rifleman/ Bounty Hunter Winchesters. Man we grew up in violent times..lol...

And the boy down the road was the envy of the neighborhood with his pair of Roy Rogers cap pistols on his hips that used rolls of caps. I had to put up with my single 6 shooter that use a flat disk of caps and had to reload every 6 shots. LOL If I remember right I had to use both hands to pull the trigger and if not careful it would pinch my fingers. Dangerous times, toys could hurt but you learned how to keep from getting hurt by them. I remember some of the caps made a louder noise than others. You could tell the loud ones cause the power spot was bigger. I aways wanted the louder ones for my bomb. They may have cost more cause usally my mom did not get them for me but it could have been she just did not shop the store that carried that brand.

The Breguet 14 is finished. It is trimmed, bombed up, and ready for its first bombing raid. Those Hun planes are no longer safe inside thier hangers. You can send me the pieces of the E-flite Fokker DVII that are left. LOL

scalercflyer 07-12-2011 09:26 PM

you better check your six D! There's a lot of Huns in the Sun looking for a fat juicy bomber!:D;) Marty

DEGREEN: Nice job buddy..she looks great. Get some video of your first run![popcorn]

CarreraGTSCS 07-16-2011 04:27 AM

Well the WWI bug has bitten again. I flew my old Polk's Dr1 today. Haven't had her up in a few years so I'd forgotten what fun she is. Still haven't covered the fuselage! My buddies are coming down to Sunday to fly with me in my secret spot and one is is lending me a small covering iron so maybe I'll get her done.

Last night I ordered the 1/4 scale Fokker E. V / D VIII plans by David Johnson from Air Age/Model Airplane News. Some of you will remember it from the March 2005 issue. Looking forward to the build.

Mike

Sig d-vii

FYI: Just thought I would share something I did to keep my Sig D-VII flying...I really do Like this plane, even though its HANS flying. My firewall wore out in time, got really weak and I like the factory motor, so I used foam in a can..type used for plugging up holes around pipes and sort. With the motor mount about to fall out, I sprayed the foam inside the cowling area, put the best right and down angle I could and let it expand clean around the motor and out the front. let it dry and shaved off the excess. I drilled small holes along side the motor hoping to get some air for cooling. Anywho...it really bound the motor in the cowling area nice and secure, flew two batteries, motor was fine. The foam once expanded did not press out the fuse sides at all. Anyway. It seemed to work.
Shes running from Spads, SE5's and Nieuports.

CarreraGTSCS 07-16-2011 04:53 AM

A little gorilla glue and water can be used the same way.

TM4197 07-16-2011 04:57 AM

Yea, I have that..but darn, this stuff is so damn fast and easy to shoot inside the area, Plus it formed around the motor nice. Shes not going to come loose now...LOL.....of course, when it comes time to replace that old 180 series motor..will be some serious Dremel work..!!:D

I saw where some people are using it to strengthen the hollow wings on the Parkzone warbirds. I have an old well used 190 I haven't flowen yet. I may fill the wings with foam first. I have use Gorilla and water in small areas but I think the foam in a can will be better to fill the wing.
