If you ever get a chance to pick up a 3seabees arf do it! I just maidened this beauty yesterday. The flying wires were perfect,the assembly was great, it flew sooo nice I could not believe it. I used a AXI 5330/24 on 10 cells(way more power than you need but safe). I had a 22/10 prop on it and flew it 3 times with not a single problem. When my friend gets the You Tube clip done I'll put it on here. Bob at 3 seabees was great to work with. Most times on a maiden I fly once and go home a happy camper. Yesterday I flew 3 times and went home a very happy camper. Nothing to adjust,fix,mend,nothing. Just put it away and will fly it next weekend again.

I have always looked at these and one day I just pushed the button. The price is alot of money to get off of these days but I bought mine about 1 1/2 years ago. this plane was better than I had hoped. flew very good and landings and take off were no problem. the price list they show is not current though. Not sure why they have not updated it but you can expect about 10% more.Call and ask if the plane you want is in stock and you can get a price then too.

I would have to add in divorce costs as well :(

$969 down payment + divorce + alimony + lawyers + child support. I think I will stick with my 1/10 scale.

hey martin guys..i'm back...just finishing up the pup...noticed a foamie on here and thought i'd chime in...mine's a little bigger though..1/4 sized...just in the process of installing the power system....always wanted to do a pup, and now we're in the final stages........Got la little side tracked the last while, and family stuff kinda took precedence, but we're back on track........I did a big Tigermoth this winter, and it's ready to maiden soon as this rotten weather smartens up. Lotta catching up to do.

Hi guys, it's been kinda quiet in here, so I thought I'd mention my currrent project. Hope all of you are well.

Need to make a build thread, just haven't gotten around to it yet, perhaps letting the cat out of the bag will inspire me!

I am HEAVILY modifying a Great Planes SE5a.

I had a damaged set of wings, and a brand new fuse, so figured it was time to have some fun with it.

It is going to be much lighter than the original, and much more scale looking. I've even re-shaped the wings to have undercambered ribs.

Fuse is pretty much done, it's just about a full ounce lighter uncovered than it was before I modded it, but after stripping the stock covering. Can't recal at the moment, but the wings are a lot lighter too.

Anyway, just a tease for now, gotta load the pics.

Hi Guys! I hope all is well! I recently attended a large flea market in Lebanon PA and came away with a great deal. I was strolling past BP Hobbies booth and spotted this N 17 ARF. I must say the workmanship was superb! The plane is all built up balsa from a laser cut kit. The only thing wrong is it's covered in transparent yellow!!! :eek: Of course the first thing I did was thank the Good Lord it didn't have any RED on it anywhere :D. Then my devious mind started to think of how I was going to turn it into a true WWI bird. ???? Then it hit me! I remembered an article I saved from MAN that told you how to repaint any film using a scotch guard pad and some spray paint. As we speak I am gathering the paint materials to repaint it. I am also in the beginning stages of planning and researching the correct markings. I certainly don't want some fake markings on this beauty! :eek::D It would seem I fell into this one at the right time. :D I will post pics as soon as I can pry the camera from my Wife! :rolleyes::D Marty

What flee market is that? I am familiar with the "Green Dragon" in Lancaster but didn't know there was a market in Lebanon. Not to far from me for a weekend drive for bargains.

DB the flea market I'm referring to is the Penn Modelers Flea market held in Lebanon PA the beginning of March every year (I've been going for over 20 Years). :) It kicks the flying season off for me every year. I always come away with something I can't live without (2 kits, and glue this year) :D. Put it on your calender for next year and I'll meet you there next year! :cool: BTW degreen I figured you would "volunteer to help me again". I suppose I asked for it! :eek::D Marty

Hey Marty!! The Germans had a plane that was almost an exact copy of the Nieuport remember, (Siemens)? You could always put some crosses on it and freak everyone out!!!! Steve

That's a great idea, and would be a simple inexpensive way to have a very unique plane. I'm sure someone will do it!

Might want to look up the Siemans-SchuckertD-1 through D-3. While it had some superficial resemblance, being a sesquiplane, to the Nieuport, it may have had a shorter tail moment and a rounder fuse. Also, it had a spinner on the 4 bladed prop.

In fact, according to Google, it was actually copied from the Nieuport 17, but wasn't as succesful. Apparently, they had a rather complex geared rotary engine that gave problems during development, and really started to give problems when the Germans started to run out of castor oil and started to switch to what may have been a synthetic oil. Also, it had cooling problems with a more streamlined cowl than the Nieuport.

Marty, after making your Tiggie/Pfalz it should not be too hard for you to kitbash, as a model railroader would say, this plane into a Siemans.
