It's going to need some work.

There are no ailerons, and little if any dihedral.

The horizontal stabilizer was crooked, I snapped it when I tested how hard it would be to "ease" it back in place.

It was glow, I intend to correct this.

I might change the color, but, well, not sure what color to change it to.

It looks like the old Graupner Fokker E III (no foamie!). I got the box and the plan from that plane (but no plane ). On the box picture it does not look like it had ailerons. But the dihedral was bigger then in your pictures. Maybe it is adjustable with the wires if the wings are 2 pieces?

Are there any other colors for this type of plane than creme (so no color at all on the original one)?

Uli

I guess I have two choices, add ailerons, or more dihedral...

WW1 Foamies please ...

Hi all,

I think we really need more WW1 planes along the line of Eflite Se5a and Jenny. Something that is easy to put together, light, cheap to replace, looks scale and affordable (50 bucks). DP

I picked up a plane today that is crying for an electric conversion.

Hi,

Is that kit built? DP

FlyingMonkey 03-11-2008 03:36 PM

no idea.

When I bought it, it still had the glow motor attached. I took it off and handed it back to the guy.

FlyingMonkey 03-11-2008 03:37 PM

cool, I only meant to post once...

Are you talking about the color of the plane or me? HAHA. You can download the PDF file of the green one, enlarge it to the size of your plane, print on paper, and glue it on your plane. Will look nice and you don't have to paint. Don Green

I didn't know, that the German Air Force Museum has a Fokker E III too.

The last (and only time around 1989) I visited it, it was still in Uetersen. But I was the only one there (during the week on a rainy day) and got a VIP-tour by the director of the museum. :ws:
Any one sat in a Heinkel He 111 before? Awsome !!!

It needs an outrunner with a paper and foam engine installed under the cowl.

I already downloaded it.

I just hope that the paper engine wouldn't fly apart.

I enlarged the engine until the part that the cylinders glue on would just fit around the bell of the motor I was using(2410-08Y). Then I cut out enough paper on the end to make the part twice as long so it goes around the bell twice and glues onto itself making a ring that will slip on the bell. Guess how I found out that just the paper glued on the bell will come off. I made foam rods to wrap and glue the cylinders around. I use Loctite latex contact cement to glue the foam rods with the cylinders around them to the paper ring. I tried a couple of other glues before I found this one that will hold the cylinders on. It was lots of fun hunting the cylinders after the first test run so after that I stuck the nose of the airplane in a box so anything that come off was in the box. Now my engine stays together at WOT. I bought the Loctite cement at WalMart.

FlyingMonkey 03-13-2008 12:53 AM

yeah, but my motor is like a park 480...

The first time I tried I just glued one layer of paper on the bell and attached the cylinders to it. I think about half the cylinders went flying and the paper came off in 2 pieces. Double wrap stopped the paper from coming off the bell. Then it was just cylinders comeing off until I tried the Locite glue. It sets up kind of rubbery so it don't crack or break with vibration. Just remember to stick the nose of the plane in a box so you don't have to hunt things until you get it to stay together. Anyway if you lose a cylinder just call it a true to scale run on the engine.
