Of Course I am the last one to know..... |
How about you?
Are you Guys having the same problem as me? ???? Poor/bad weather, plans that often go astray and no time to build? Seems like it's getting worse. Was supposed to go to a fun fly today but by the time I got out of church and had something to eat, it was too late to go. ::o Not only that, but the glider pilots took over the field. I HATE gliders! They are the most boring thing to me. I'd rather have some good hair raising, scary flights than 1 glider flight. How about you Guys? BTW, did you notice my avitar? Looks familar HUH? Martin

Steve, I'm still working on the Comet SuperStars Dr1. I haven't built from a kit in a long time and most of the "short cuts" are coming back to me. I'm spoiled by the ARF's that are like snap together toys compared to building from a kit. Slow process of ironing on the Micorlite covering and getting all of the little corners tacked down. Trying not to break the little 1/16" stringers as I handle it. But, it's coming along, slowly but surely. The photos aren't up to date. I cut away the stringers on the bottom of the fuselage from the firewall back to the next bulkhead to install a hatch for battery insert/removal.

I been flying almost everyday this week. Have to wait on rain to quit, then put mosquito net that has been sprayed with off over my head(the blood sucking knats can get through the mosquito net), wear long sleeve shirt in the heat, spray hands with off. Sometimes they are thick enough in front of face to be distracting. I finally got the Morane Sauliner L trimed to fly nice with A/E/M, it was designed for R/E/M. I was having trouble hand launching it. Now it launches nice and straight without rolling to one side and diving. Now to just find them unexpecting Fokkers with the Hotchkiss gun and the deflectors on the prop.

I am working on rebuilding my Loening M8 scratch built foam WW1 plane. It had crashed so many times that the fuselage front was more glue than foam.

In other news, (I know, not WWI, but still a biplane) my beloved Pico Tiger Moth is out of commission. My 8 year old was flying it on the trainer cord, when he went into a dive, and by the time my reflexes caught up, it slamed into the goal post at the school. Destroyed both wings. I loved that plane. Now I need to decide what to do with it - new wings, or start over. I have another TM kit, in box, but I was sort of wanting to do that as a 100% stock ultralight. |
The Fokkers are safe from my TripeHound for a while. Last night it desided to fly away, I regained control long enough to turn it 180 degrees back toward me then lost control again. It is in the top of a tree. Now I need the wind to blow.

What is causing this loss of contol? Is it a pilot thing, or a bad receiver thing?

I haven't heard anything good about any Walkera electronics!! Steve

Rx
Degreen, 7car7, I use exclusively BERG Rxs. They lock onto your signal and ignore others even if they are on the same channel! I have never had a problem one. For the cost (about 26.00 to 29.00) it's worth it. Martin

Tiger Moth
7car7 check Tower's sight. I think you can get a slope version of the Tiger Moth for about $26.00. What you need you can take from the old one (motor, batt, etc). I think I might go for one (since my Birthday is next month). Gee I hope my Wife sees this.... Martin

I went for this deal...
http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...9&pid=NGWSV373 Here's the main page with GWS replacement stuff - would be great for a scratchbuilder who's into foam - like what degreen60 did. http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=V531939 They have parts for a PT17 on there. Or perhaps a biplane using Spitfire wings? :D |
Great Planes Electrifly SPAD XIII
Does anyone have any info on the new SPAD from GP. I saw a short blurb on Fly R/C but thats it. I contacted GP and they said they did not have any info?

Expect to wait a couple months if it goes like it did with the other planes in the WW1 line....:(

Hello WWI fans,
Remember that Pink foamy Fokker Dr-1 Tri that used to be on thread page #79?. It sure is doing some nice flying. I posted another video on me sport flying it in Webshots here: http://good-times.webshots.com/video...29027590CeHfIB She is now all trimmed and have about 12 flights on it now. There are 35 mixed electric videos I posted in the Webshots site of some of my 24 plane squadron. There is also a Das Ugl-E Stik and Eindekker some place in there. Incedently, the Das Ugl-e Stik, Eindekker and others posted are home built Foam electrics. Feel free to look around. Use the FULL Album in the upper right corner to open more albums. Also, Webshots allows free posting of 950 videos and 9,500 pictures. Good Deal! Free. You can see some info on my homebuilt Dr-1 Tri on this WWI thread at the link here. http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...postcount=2156 Enjoy yourself, **Neons** Bob |
