Took it back out this morning, snow is not as fluffy. Did ROS ok. Only problem is the wind blew hard and I only have a small place where the snow has not blown thin enough for grass to stick through to take off from. I can land anywhere but the little blades of grass turn the plane on takeoff and stop it. Today has no wind but cold, 11 degrees. Good thing I fly close to the house. Makes it easy to keep batteries and me warm. LOL

Hey guys, I am looking for information on an obscure Fokker.....I believe it's a V 17 or something like that, I understand it was a shoulder wing plane, but I could be wrong, as I have only one very poor photo...anyone ever heard about it?
Hopefully it will be my next WW1 project.

Was it a Junker-Fokker aircraft CL 1 ? That was a low wing two seater, with no external bracing.

The V.17 was an experimental monoplane which appears to be a D.VIII converted from a parasol to a mid fuselage wing attatchment. The wing sillouette is along the lines of a D.VIII.

Marty...DB... thanks...that's the one....DB's sketches/pictures are a close match to what I have on hand, so I am pretty much convinced that the wing was mid fuselage, not placed on the top fuselage longeron like the one in the movie Marty sent....BUT they both appear to be a D V1 fuselage and tail group......very close to the EV/ D V111, so if I was to use the EV fuselage, likely no one would know the difference, since not too many guys have actually seen a V 17...........;) I'm thinking the movie just may be a V 20...but I can't confirm that.
Think I'll do it in 22 1/2% size, since I just happen to have plans drawn up for 6 of the Fokker series of planes in this size.
Now I need to spend the spring/summer collecting bits and pieces for it...... well actually not all..I have the wing framed up from an earlier try..I just couldn't find where the wing was mounted for sure, so I decided to wait a while, and in the mean time built the tri-plane. :D

Marty - have you spilled the beans on your next plane? I've missed it if you have. That is unless the post about what it is was as hard to see as this mystery plane supposedly is... :D

Just started Building a foam triplane. My avro flew so well I though I would try something else. I am using ff plans with a 12in ws and enlarging them 2.5x to about 30in.
Also working on a 40in ws camel in balsa.

Mine is all out of 1/4 in pink foam.

Is it an Einy? I just got home from Dallas from a machining seminar. I can't believe that in all that time you guys haven't figured this riddle out yet so I figured I'd take a stab at it!! Steve

The front of the fuselage is a foam block with Dollar Tree white foam glued on it and sanded to shape. When I first built it I used all white foam but found out white foam bends where I grip the plane to hand launch. A bad receiver put the plane in a tree where it stayed till a strong wind tore it out. I rebuilt it with pink foam from the front of the cockpit aft exect the top of the fuselage, it is the original white foam sanded to shape. The tail feathers are pink foam sanded thinner. This plane will fly in the wind and is still a floater.

Well, the last hint didn't help me then as I shave with a "Razor" and I don't know any planes called Shick, Bic, Braun, Wilkinson or Norelco. ????

I think the pink stuff is pretty good. I used the make the wings on the avro and that works great.
As always with a new scratch build though I am starting to get worried about the maiden:o Just in case I built some bad worp in to it or....

My hayfield has saved several of my planes. Also I am getting good at rebuilding. LOL. Nice thing about foam, it breaks into large pieces.

Congrats to both d's! The flying razor DVIII it is (hard to see, no red!)! I have a set of plans from model aviation for this plane spanning 69". I have decided to scratch build a plane instead of just building the Ben Buckle kit I have (sound familar Steve?). The cowl diameter of this beast measures 9"! Should be an interesting build. I will warn you Guys though I am a very slow and meticulous builder. I will post as I go. Marty

Close to where I live was a barn that was painted blue. It has now been torn down but stood so long painted blue that the hill was named "Blue Barn Hill". There is a sign at the hill now. The barn is also painted on the side of building in town. Guess barns could have been painted blue. But then what about all those old wood railroad cars painted box car red? My dad was a car knocker on the Milwaukee and he called the paint red lead.

Yup. Red lead used lead tetroxide as the pigment. They also used arsenic of lead to make white paint. Lead was one of the most popular base elements in coloring agents for thousands of years. Then in 1980 children sarted eating paint chips and ruined everything.

I had a cousin that eat paint chips. She died as a child of unknow causes in the 50s. Can only guess now that it was from eating the paint.
