no its not electric, but my Dr1 seems to be on eternal backorder!!
Its not a ww1 plane but should still be fun.
I suppose I could always change the color scheme to all red..Ha Ha Ha!!:D

You paint it red and my Camel will hunt you down.

WWI Ace 06-08-2007 07:08 PM

I didn't know Camels could fly!! I figured their humps would ruin their aerodynamics!! Ha ha!! Steve.

Biplane Murphy 06-09-2007 06:25 AM

I think that my Dr1 is being shipped via Camel(4 legged one):D:D:D

Hi Martin........Have you started that GP tripe yet?
Have you settled on Waldo Pepper color scheme?
Are you going to re-cover And paint? or use Monocote etc....

scalercflyer 06-10-2007 07:32 AM

Camo scheme fpr GP tripe
Well Murph it's a toss up between the RB's lesser known camo scheme (see below) or the Great Waldo Pepper scheme. If I go with the RB's scheme below, It would save me a lot of work. Hey Guys, help me choose! Steve where are you when I need you?

scalercflyer 06-10-2007 07:33 AM

The front of the tripe
Here's a pic of the front. Martin

scalercflyer 06-10-2007 07:38 AM

Sorry Murph, forgot to answer you. I plan to scotch pad (rough up) the covering and repaint using my airbrush. I will have to experiment a little with paints, but should be no problem. Stripping this plane would be very labor intense. Martin

scalercflyer 06-10-2007 07:43 AM

RB camo
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE PINK BACKGROUND SURROUNDING THE CROSS ON THE UPPER WING! REAL MEN never painted their planes with PINK paint anywhere on their war mounts!!! :D Martin

Biplane Murphy 06-10-2007 07:58 AM

So whose pretty pink enhanced plane is that!!:D

So there appears to be a lot of RED in those photos.:)

I bought some Krylon short cuts enamel to paint mine...Testors enamel worked great in my tests. tried to scratch it, and crumpled some of the monocote.........It survived both quite well, no flaking. Just worried that it may take a lot of coats of paint to cover the red.
Really dont want to re-cover all those scalloped trailing edges.

are you sure that isn't the lesser known "Pink Baron's Dr1"?:):D

Oh Yeah.........watch your six....degreen60's camel has been seen hunting red planes!!

Here is my latest WW1 project. Originally I built it for free flight but I am now converting it to electric R/C. I'm just awaiting on the servos arriving, power is a artec bell outrunner, with a 2s lipo

How do I post photos so they don't end up in thumbnail format?

Biplane Murphy 06-10-2007 08:33 PM

Hi guys....Looks like Kiwi has all the good full-scale photos!

So Kiwi......Have the Germans invaded New Zealand, Or are these photos from somewhere else??

Chris/ Murph

scalercflyer 06-10-2007 08:52 PM

That's It!
That's the one Kiwi! Comments/opinions Gentlemen? Martin

Biplane Murphy 06-10-2007 08:57 PM

Looks like less painting would be neccessary!

Biplane Murphy 06-10-2007 10:09 PM

Martin how about this one.:)

degreen60 where's that camel?:<

HA HA HA HA HA.......................

Kiwi 06-10-2007 10:54 PM

All the photos were taken about 2 hours away from my house.
The film director Peter Jackson is a keen WW1 aircraft fan and collects them, now has over 2 dozen in his collection.

Biplane Murphy 06-11-2007 02:42 AM

Kiwi......Those photos look a bit like California, Peter Jackson wouldn't happen to live out this way would he?
If so I would love to see those planes next time he puts on a show!!
