Hey D would you 'splain to us how you set up your pull/pull cable control system? I never tried one. I have just started a scratch build Fokker DVIII Peter Rake design that I would like to incorporate the system on. Marty

I applaud them for making something other than another red Fokker, or another green British plane. |
Out of stock tells me others like it a lot too.
And put me on the "so ugly its good looking" list. |
I saw a video of a model of this plane taking off and landing on water. Probably on Utube.
|
Sorry I sounded over the top on the beauty of this plane! Its for sure a one of kind design. I remember years ago, going through photos of WW1 airplanes and one after the other I am thinking wow...beautiful...wow..look at those lines or just a deadly looking airplane, then I came accross this one and thought...hemmmmmmm...never seemed to jump out and say fly me! But then again, I drive a ugly car!:concern: So..who am I to say anything!!
|
Just saw the YOUTUBE video of this one on SKI's...now thats COOL!!!!!
Looks like the bottom drops out on her with low speed! They did a good job on the Ski takeoff! |
Yep, looked like a blast. We all need a WWI plane that can have skis or floats!
|
Ok...DEGREEN.....get on that for us would ya!!! I would like an JN4!! I can put the gear in it!

Here is my Eflite Jenny N9 on floats, wheels, and skis. Picture on skis taken before I changed the motor on the cowl and added spinner. Skis are easy to make, use foam meat tray. Use the side as the front of the ski. They are held on by a single rubber band that keeps them flat while flying but lets them rotate when landing. The main float is made with foam formers and covered with water proof photo paper. The paper has a milar top covering. Wing tip floats are clinders of rolled water proof photo paper.

All very nice Don!! I made a set of skis for my GWS beaver from your design, it works very well. And really pretty cheap to make..and you can get steak out of the whole deal!! LOL

if you look at the history of aircraft, several planes that are "purpose built" for a specific job in the military are a bit goofy or unconventional. Like the A6 intruder, or the A10 tank killer.
As far as WWI goes, I love the "off the beaten path" rare birds. I'm a huge Aviatik berg d.1 fan along with the phonix austrian scouts and the Ansaldo SVA5 italian beauty. and of course my favorite, the siemens schuckert D.III It all goes back to that whole "in the eye of the beholder" thing. ~dcwwwcp |
A very good way to put it!! I second the vote on the berg d.1
thats just a BAD looking plane!! Just says " gonna kick you arse" |

I just got another crashed plane to rebuild. I now have about 4 waiting in line. I am working on a GWS Tiger Moth into a SPAD XI. I took my GP SE5A out for a flight and crashed it myself(guess I did not have enough to do). When I rebuild it I plan adding the dihedral in the wings. The Loening M8 is still waiting to be finished. The plane I just received in the mail is a GP Fokker DVII with the front cowl missing. I was going to make it a black plane with northwind on it but this one has already been changed to all white except elevator and looks so good I think I will leave all white.

Found this in the forsale section. Anyone want to guess what it supposted to be? Maybe pre WWI? Or not even scale, maybe just a trainer.

I have a few receivers that when flew through certian spots they would giltch. I found this http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/bhabbott/decoder.html I bought a programer and some pics. I installed the pic and the glitches are gone. Also if I forget to turn the TX on first the servos no longer go mad. The pics I bought are 12F508 for about $1 each. If any of my friends here would like to try this mod I can program you chips. Just pay for the chips. Things I will need to know to program are, input to receiver decoder pos or neg pulses(not the FM shift). JR throtle(do not know what this means cause I do not have JR). Also if you want fail save on throtle to act same as ESC, I programed mine this way.

Don, are we talking 72 or 2.4?
I have one plane thats on a GWS receiver, and it's occasionally freaks out in a certain spot at my field. It's a somewhat fast but cheap ducted fan, and has battle scars from just dropping straight in uncommanded. |
