I'm not allowed to write what I really want to say ...

I got email today from SS .... advising that I may get ... MAY GET ... my SS3 late April or most likely later in May .......

Wow, seems like they keep moving the date. Hope it works well

JetPlaneFlyer 04-01-2017 05:41 PM

Soloshot seem to work to a different timescale than the rest of us.. Kinda like dog years, as we all know 1 human year = 7 dog years. Doing the math I think Soloshot work on a similar timescale to dogs:

When you placed your order Soloshot were stated 3 months delivery. These were obviously 'special' Soloshot months that are much longer than human months. So doing the math, in round numbers you placed the order 15 human months ago and in that time delivery has gone down from an initial three Soloshot months, to (at best) 1 Soloshot month.

15/(3-1) = 7.5

So one Soloshot month = 7.5 human months.:D

Expect to get your camera in October:eek:

We have the Invitation Open Meeting to celebrate new season on April 15th ...

ANOTHER one missed !! Wonder if I'll get to video the CLOSE OF SEASON meeting ?

I'd be fuming if it were me.
It's hard to believe they ever genuinely expected to deliver it by the original early in 2016 date. Either they are totally incompetent and dont have a clue how long these things take to bring to market (which is hard to accept with this being the third version) or they simply lied about delivery dates in order to mislead people into making up-front payments.

Having said that, if it works as advertised it will be great...

solentlife 04-02-2017 04:19 PM

As I said earlier ... I honestly think because they farmed out production to a factory in far east ... they were not allowed enough credit and had to put up funds to show good faith. Hence the Pre-Order and people like me paid into.

To be honest - I am fully aware that is the usual reason for Pre-Order .... but when they advertise Pre-Order and a probable delivery date - they don't get it more than a year wrong !!

Yes IF it performs as they say - it will be a great piece of kit ... but until I have it in hand and see what it can do ... their words mean nothing ... as they say "Words are cheap".

This don't make a bit of sense in that after a successful production of Soloshot2 that most everyone likes, WHY, with all the knowledge of that production would they be slow and ignorant to a new AND IMPROVED production of the same 'type' of camera!!?? I really hope those folks are for real as a lot of fake companies are being discovered all the time. With the Soloshot2 being a success, why in the world would they have trouble funding such a great and sought after product!! I'm not buying their excuses and sounds like they are buying time for some reason! I doubt any attorney would touch this and for what they charge it wouldn't be worth their time and I doubt the credit card company would pursue this being a foreign land or unknown type bank to them. Funny they choose a bank that don't recognize your funding type of card company. I would like to see a REAL set of numbers of people waiting for such a camera. Good luck getting a refund if that is even possible anymore. Like they say, they appreciate your waiting. I say try and get your money back and buy that Soloshot2 from Fireman.........if he is willing to sell. Maybe since you expressed how distraught you are directly to them, and you told us you have givin' them a piece of your mind from time to time and told them how unhappy you are with their service, they are making you wait that much longer :D

solentlife 04-03-2017 06:05 AM

No disrespect to others - but I would not buy the SS2.

I did look at it because it was available to buy ... but the SS3 has a fast switch on and initialize time as well as integrated.
As I gather from comparing them - little of the 2 is in the 3.

SS were as I understand it manufacturing in house in USA from available parts for the 2. But the 3 they decided to contract out to far east factory.

Nigel

WizardMaster 04-03-2017 02:57 PM

I understand and agree but as far as I'm concerned, the SS3 does not exist until you actually have it in your hand. Forget the videos you see or the promises they make because it could all be smoke and mirrors. I really hope this works out for you real soon. Those goons are what hurt good folk's trust towards otherwise good businesses after a bad experience. Good luck and look forward to hearing good news soon!

Soloshot3?

Was just wondering if you received your solo shot 3 yet? I'd sure like to have one as well but have been burned by long production times on a few kickstarters. Can't wait to hear your review on how the software works for tracking.

solentlife 08-19-2017 08:23 AM

Still not in hand ... they say first lot sent to USA for evaluation / packing ... but nothing seen / heard for mine yet.

Nigel

JetPlaneFlyer 08-24-2017 06:58 PM

'Sent for evaluation' doesnt exactly instil confidence, what happens if some issue is picked up during 'evaluation'?

Fingers crossed for a 2017 delivery

solentlife 10-13-2017 08:31 PM

SS have now said that orders will be shipping in October 2017 ...

Yeh well ....

Here's a taster :

I wonder how well this will do with faster planes, say up to 100 MPH.

solentlife 10-14-2017 10:47 AM

I forget the answer they gave when asked ... I'll see if I can find it ...

They have a Facebook page that has most of it :

https://www.facebook.com/pg/SOLOSHOTupdates/posts/

According to their 'blurb' :

The max panning speed of the Base is 120 degrees per second, and can rotate a full 360 degrees consecutively! The max tilt speed is 60 degrees per second -- 90 degrees upwards, and 50 degrees downwards.

If 120 /sec ....that should just about cover a fast model I reckon ... of course the closer it is to the camera - the faster the camera needs to pan ...

With 120 deg per second rotation speed and if you placed it 25M (27.3 yds) from the flight line it could track a plane flying in a straight line at ground level at 193MPH. It would tend to fall behind momentarily when the plane was at it's very closest, but over the full 120 Deg pan of the camera it would keep up.

If the plane passed more than 25M from the camera it could cope with higher speeds.

Yeh well ....

Hopefully with the end of October being less than two weeks away they cant be too far out this time, fingers crossed.

So do all the cameras ship direct from the USA or have the got other distribution centres?

solentlife 10-20-2017 04:36 AM

Unfortunately all shipped via California ...

This will add significant delay of course.

Nigel

dahawk 10-20-2017 11:40 PM

Slow boat from LA

So, three working days left in October. Have you got shipping notification yet:rolleyes:

Shame that they are only available direct from the USA with no local distributors anywhere in the rest of the world. That fact alone might put a lot of people off. My main concern, other than shipping cost and time would be after-sales support, especially so with such a new, complex and untested product. Fingers crossed you have no issues.

I'm really looking forward to your review once it does arrive.

solentlife 10-26-2017 06:53 PM

SS say they are shipping to us Pre-Pay customers first - then to retailers.

So it looks like over-counter sales will be available ... next century !!

No pre-shipment advice yet ....

Nigel

JetPlaneFlyer 10-26-2017 08:03 PM

Pre-orders first then retailers makes sense, thanks for clarifying.

The web site says that the first orders shipped on the 20th, so hopefully the end of your long wait is in sight!

solentlife 10-27-2017 07:40 AM

Let's hope !

They are supposed to be giving us a freebie as well in recognition of waiting .... no idea what ! Would be nice if its a second transponder .... but doubt it. Probably discount coupon for SS4 !

Though on October 13th they told you it would ship in October, so I'm not sure I'd trust them:rolleyes:
