MIT has a breakthrough using Lithium air batteries. 3 times the capacity and lighter then current lithium batteries.

There is a lot of battery research going on. Right now, it really isn't laptop batteries that is the "brass ring", it is large batteries to power full size cars. Weight and capacity are very important in this use. Equal and maybe more important is life span, cost, and how quickly this power can be used. (C rating for our r/c use)

Sadly, every battery so far has had at least one serious flaw that has not been overcome in one of these categorys.

I hope this one works and becomes commercially viable, even if it never sees r/c use.
