Duster - Seems fine to me, after all - RCU and Wattflyer are one in the same.
Nice looking engine on the stearman also by the way.

Andy - Welcome and thanks!

Duster52 07-27-2005 01:39 PM

Thanks. That is a kit I got off the internet. Vaccuformed plastic parts glued together and painted! I liked it much better than the original!:)

Reformed Nitroaddict 07-27-2005 01:46 PM

Yes - it is very nice. My Stearman is currently retired as I bouced it into a suspended wire and sheered off the wing and front cowling. Someday I will fix it and get it airbornse again....She was a porker though.

theKM 07-27-2005 03:07 PM

Is it just me, or does the list of forums here almost exactly mirror those of electric section RCGroups.com?... I suppose you need to put up what works. Looks like you're running the same software too.

...is it backed by RCU, because thier electric section kind of blows?
Out of all the forums, RCU's the worst offender for ads.

Anyways, all that aside, here's to the new forum!

Duster52 07-27-2005 03:22 PM

You know, there are only so many different categories. You would have to duplicate. Yes, it's RCU, but, they promise NO Banners, and ads.

I like the heck out of RCU electric forum.:)

Reformed Nitroaddict 07-27-2005 03:29 PM

theKM - Welcome to Wattflyer!

There will always be similar forums in all good electric rc sites. This VB code is slightly better than the one at RCGroups but very similar. Yes - this site has a connection with RCU but only in the people that run it. PlaneInsane and RCAdmin from RCU have started this site as a relaxed way to talk about electric RC in a more home like environment. There will never be any ads, never be any banners. Please invite more people over here so that they may also help get this site up and running.

Duster - thanks for all the positive comments.

theKM 07-27-2005 03:53 PM

When playing in open source software, one is always asked about duplication of effort... "why another forum, when you can just help build the others build even better communities?" ...which is valid in a way.

...I'm only here because I want to flog plans! :p :) :D

Ha! KM - That thing is pretty cool!

Jason T 07-28-2005 12:54 AM

KM,

Very cool model. What is the power setup?

Thanks!

Power train: 640mah 2S Kokam Lipo's, CC-phoenix10, and I'm testing out a 19g CustomCDR 20mm single stator. Originally powered by (and actually designed around) a LensRC 17t. Both are fantastic motors. The new CustomCDR has a tad more gumption and can handle 3S for longer duration without overheating. Prop is a 3 blade VarioProp with 6.5" diameter blades.

I like to mess around with my camera and my plane, so here's pics of the latest setup if you're curious...

I like it here! Thanks guys. It would be so cool if the petty snipping common to other sites didn't show up here. Hey, we're all in this together, let's kick back, learn something and maybe laugh at ourselves every now and then.

Darn it Mike, I know you've been to SEFF, and I still didn't get a chance to meet you. (I've been to all 4, and plan on being at every one as long as I can keep breathing) I'm Tom Korn, by the way, I don't know why I signed in as akorn. Brain fade, I guess.

Mike Parsons 08-09-2005 07:06 PM

Hey Tom, our paths have crossed at RCG a couple of times. I have been to the last three (had another obligation during the first one) and wont miss one again if I can help it. I will make it a point to seek you out in '06 :). I would like to get to the Melbourne Fly-in this year as well. :)

** I can change your ID if you need me too**

Tom Korn 08-09-2005 08:12 PM

I hate to be a bother, but if you could change it to Tom Korn, that would be great.

I plan on attending the Melbourne show also. One day I will be brave enough to fly at one, until then it is so much fun to see every buddy and all the cool machines!

Maybe I have a few marbles missing, but I just love the attitude of this place! I plan on meeting up with Anthony soon, if not this weekend.

Mike Parsons 08-09-2005 08:24 PM

We'll get you changed Tom. :)

admin 08-09-2005 08:38 PM

All fixed up Tom!

Tom Korn 08-09-2005 11:47 PM

Watt took so long? (tongue in cheek) Thanks guys.

Marc, that cute dog seems to have a pierced lower lip. What kind of a Pup is he/she. We have a 17 year old Shi-Szu Poodle mix that is doing very well. Best dog ever. And he is hypo-allergenic! I don't have allergies, but my brother does and doesn't have a problem with this guy.

Am I going to get yelled at for being off subject?

John D 08-09-2005 11:59 PM

Thanks for putting in the effort to get this site up and running - looks great.

He is an australian terrier. He's missing a few teeth. 8 years old and also hypoallergenic like yours. Have 2 others (yorkies) along with him. One we just rescued recently. My wife and son have allergies and these breeds also seem ok for them. I should start an off topic pets forum here!

DIVER DON 08-10-2005 09:11 AM

Tom Korn 08-10-2005 12:16 PM
