Dick, thought you might like to have a look at these. I am a bit spoilt in NZ as we have a large band of WW1 buffs who have amassed a sizeable collection of WW1 and other replicas and rebuilds. They have no less than 7 DR1s now. Heres some pics (there are three pages) also a couple of YouTube vids of a DH2 and DH5 at one of their air shows plus the DR1s (this was a couple of years ago when they only had 5)

Maden'd My SE5a

Yeah haw...we got the SE5 a maiden flight. Breezy once over the trees and ailerons were very ,very responsive...will have to adjust those down a bit.In the far south, I think I could almost see one of those Tripes! The little plane is light but handles a little breeze. The Rim Fire Motor had plenty of power. First flight was about 15min then we tried a landing. Grass is already reay for a cut, I nosed over in a pot hole in the grass..no harm done,Just a small nick in the Prides' armour...LoL...

sure looks super. how many transmitters does it take per flight? dick

Funny you should ask..but through the last 2 yrs our club went to a dedicated frequency for each member. I ended up buying a couple of new radio's because it wasn't too cost effective to have the crystals in the radio's changed and retuned to the reciever's, then when I did get my JR changed, darn thing was gone for 2 months, sooo..I ended up with servo's ,I couldn't use, reciever's etc. This has cost me a lot of cash to comply in our club.Buying extra reciever's, servo's and radios ..trying to comply with the rules set at our field so some dumb s....! can't take the time to check the frequency board when he turns a radio on in the pits....Sorry for the venting...But to keep flying some planes and not have to change( I started flying older airtronics, their format changed so that made the older 102 servo's uncompatable. Then we get the difference between positive shift and negitive shift. So not wanting to discard perfectly good equipment, I started a small collection. One radio does a plane kinda thing, and I brought a small hanger with me the day i maiden'd the SE5.I maiden'd 3 new aircraft that day..all sucessfully.
The other thing is, when I get the chance to fly, I like to make a day of it because the field is 45min away, so 45 to the field, 20min to pack so like I've already got 2hrs tied up just going to the field. If you get there and have a small problem, your done flying for the day...then you get wind, rain and forget something , I've gone home cursing myself more than once because I needed some little thing...I think I had 9 planes packed in the back of the truck that day, but it was a great day of flying, sunny ,warm and good company up on the hill.I wasn't leaving till I had a good flying fix....!!! How is everybody? Still out there flying? Steve.

I wish!
Steve, this is the third weekend in a row with no flying due to high winds! I'm starting to get antsy! Anyway, I decided to try something new to build. :) I sure got bit by the F 15 when I saw the thread on the park jet website. www.parkjets.com/f15-eagle.html I have all of the parts cut out and the build about 2/3 thirds done. Should fly very good. All foam (6mm Depron). Yeah, yeah I know it's not WWI but I have a certain plane (DRI) in mind to build/assemble next. That is if TH ever decides to ship it! :{ Release date end of June I'm told. I now have 4 birds ready for weekend flying. I will post pics of the GP DRI build when I get it. The first thing after I get the kit is the rudder is going on a diet! :) Martin

Quiet evening here, I had the Albatros, Triplane, and Camel in the air. Trouble here is not the wind but little black bugs. If you stand still they collect on your face. Lots of fun trying to fly and shoo the bugs away at the sametime. Loening M-8 is almost ready maiden.

how about a foto of the M-8 ? also what plans? would like to build another one. mine didn't survive Katrina. dick

http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19165 I used plans in 1970 MAN. I scanned them into computer, used graphics program to enlarge to size I wanted then page printed them. I taped the pages togerher. Cut out side view and used that to cut foam to shape. |
interesting bird Degreen60...dont think I've seen that one before. It would make a great stick that's somewhat scale for general flying..somethig different than all those "Das Ugly" versions.might just have to build one..thanks for posting the pic

by the way Ace, if it isn't raining and I don't have to work, I'll be flying something...lol
