More pictures of the "junk" Nieuport 28 I am fixing up to fly again. I have 2 variations of the A.E.F squadron 213 emblem. I could not choise between the 2 of them which one I liked best so I put them both on the plane, one on each side.

looking good de.when is the maiden?

You are really somethin' Degreen!! I knew a guy like you at our flying field years ago. He would take peoples crashed planes they didn't want, or dig wrecks out of the trash can and fix 'em. If he couldn't fix one plane he would mix and match parts from different planes so he always had a plane to fly. Some of them were kinda ugly but he didn't care. He was never afraid to try!! Steve

yeah sometimes guns can be a pain in the butt to make...but then i guess it's a hobby and it's not too much trouble to make whatever you decide you need for the model.....that's a good thing about starting early in the winter to build..then you have lots of time to do whatever your imagination comes up with. We have no snow here, but the wind is howling from the East at about 50 mph...but it's relatively warm out there...not below freezing....but it definitely wasn't flyable today....big kite maybe.

I need help from the group bad. My wife heated up the oven to use. I hurried up and got my cowl masters. Found some empty plastic drink bottles, cut and put the masters into them ready to go into oven as soon as she is finished with it. I don't even have a need for the cowls yet but there is always my next WW1 scratch build that might need one of the cowls.
|
he he! I have these really cool bottles, with a perfectly round, (with no coke bottle style flair at the top), and no grooves shape. Just dying to use them for something. They look just like the nose of a Pitts 12. Only problem is they're sort of small, about 2 inches diameter.
Perhaps a twin engine Fokker D8? (runs and hides) |
why that's dimescale siemens-schuckert D.III size!!

My scratch built Bristol M1C has the top of a 2 liter bottle for the spinner. Sence the M1C had an open front spinner I think it looks ok. The cowl is from the same bottle, the cruve at the top of the bottle was just right. Sence the Bristol has an open bottom cowl the bottle did not have to fit, I just cut the bottom part out and glued the rest on the fuselage.

Bottles
De do you need coke/pepsi 1 liter bottle ends and how many? My wife drinks diet pepsi like it's water. I can supply you with more than you can use. They do not have the round end on the bottles though, just the clear molded ends. If you can use them, sSpeak the word and it shall be done. Marty

The Nieuport 28 rebuild is finished and about ready to test fly. Just need receiver and battery. I guessed at how the wings should be finished. Sence this was a training plane in France and my Fish was also a training plane in France which I could see stars on the wings in pictures I put stars on this plane. I read that some think the wings were same as fighting planes, or one color, even linen, maybe the elevator white. I made mine yellow like training planes in the states.

Exceptional work
Exceptional work d! Just a word of advice though, when you fly it, don't dive too steeply or the fabric will come off the top wing! Marty

Lower airlerons
I agree D. Airlerons on the lower wing are easy to install and would make the plane roll alot better. BTW, I use 3.5" floppy disc material for mine. I have these hinges in several planes including my Formosa and have yet to experience a failure. I cut a thin slot with a single edge razor blade insert the hinges, assemble both components and add a little foam safe Ca. The CA wicks down the disc material and adheres to both pieces (sometimes I use a shot of accelerator). I find it helps to use a real thin tube applicator (goes on the end of your bottle). This produces a super floppy, super strong hinge that will never wear out. Go for it Bud. :D:cool: Marty

I use floppy disk for hinges too. I coat them with Loctite no mess glue before sliding them in the slot. Foams tears out before the hinge will come loose.

nice job, man the fuselage looks really good.
I would go for 4 ailerons. link them together. all or nothin' I say. the performance of 4 ailerons, even of scale size, is always better than even full length ailerons on just one wing. easy for me to say huh... looks great man, and thanks again for helping me my schuckert. |
If it had three wings you could have 6 ailerons!!!!!!!!!! Steve

Triplanes
You have triplanes on your brain you crazy Texican!:D
|
Well...excuuuuuuuuuuuuse us ! And just what's wrong with triplanes ?? huh ? Huh?? :D
|
Triplanes are ok if they start with Sopwith but those that start with Fokker I am not to sure about.

Tripes
If anybody loves tripes it's me. :) I was just bustin' on Steve!:D;)
