I would have to sat that the Hawker Typhoon is my favorite. It's just a sexy, mean looking, bird of prey. German Tankers, where scared to death of the Tiffie.

Gee, that's a tough one. WWII had so many beautiful aircraft. I love the Typhoon too but my favorite is probably the Hawker Hurricane.
|
I'm very partial to the B-17, always have been. Even the name "Flying Fortress" just sounds so cool.

Hi
The "Jug" and then the "Lightning" Here's my versions of them Do enjoy:D Take care Yours Hank |
Difficult to think of just one favorite. But as a model, then any that fly in a scale like manner and near to a scale like speed.
I think there's too many 'scale' models that just look so great on the ground, and just so wrong once in the air. My Dauntless is still my favorite to take flying, much more fun than my Spitfire. |

FW-190 and the P-47. I like those bad fat birds.....
|
Spitfires all the way! MKII, MKVB, MKIX. It might not have had range or speed of a Mustang or the firepower of a Tempest but I just love those lines. It's pretty.

oh wow...hard one...im going to have to go with the P40 and then the BF 109E

Mine would have to be the Gloster Meteor. First flew in 1943 and retired from active service in 1980.
An impressive service record for the first jet fighter used in combat by the UK. I don't think that other than the DC3 there was a longer serving plane of its day. |

I think I like the look of the Typhoon better, but think of the HP and top speed of the Tempest? I really love all Supermarine (most pre WWII), all Martin, and all Hawker planes. Add to that my love of the P61 and only slightly less the P38 I used to have a total crush on the B17, but I'm more in awe of the the monsters like the B24 and the Lancaster these days. My biggest issues is my uncontrollable draw to the flying boats like the Sunderland and the PBY, especially the 5A. I guess my favorites in order (at least these days) would be: PBY, P61, and I'm really torn for third place with the Spitfire or the Tempest. (thinking I should just sell the motors I have for my B17 project I'll never get to) |
The very pugnacious look and devastating firepower (for its time) of the Bristol Beaufighter make it my WWII favorite. I was fortunate enough to have owned and flown one of Ivan Pettigrew's prototype models of the Beau, his first one at 66", and it was a joy to fly. I have the plans, and hope to build a new one at 80" when I retire and have the time (soon, I hope, I'm already a year overdue!).

My personal favorite(s) are a tie between the P-51D Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt.
