    Any time you are making a ROG rolling off ground takeoff and landing. Many planes like to veer off to one side due to the prop torque. It helps get you out of trouble at lower speeds when the ailerons are not getting much airflow. The rudder is directly in the prop wash so it gives a better response.

    Rudder should also be used in banked (aileron) turns, slightly, to keep the plane in a level attitude. Without it the plane likes to pitch upwards and results in a loss of speed.
